The music video that stood out to me the most was this one:
The narrative of the story is clear, and they used a range of shots and locations, to ensure that the music video didn't seem repetitive. This is why I ranked it at the top of my list.
A close second is this one:
Like 'What We Started', they used a range of shots and locations to reduce the effect of repetitiveness, however the narrative of the music video is complex, and somewhat alienated me. This is why I ranked 2nd, and it taught me that my music video has to have a simpler story line, in order for people to understand.
Here are the rest of the videos, ranked from 3 down to 11, with brief notes as to why I put them in their positions, and what I learnt when watching them, as well as personal views as to whether I enjoyed watching them or not.
Good use of shots, good storyline, lots of locations, really entertaining.
Great use of video effects and transitions to make it look dynamic. Pleasure to watch.
Deep and meaningful music video motive. Great range of locations, camera angles & movements to portray this.
This music video had a good storyline, and I like the variety of locations. There was hardly ever any repeating.
Good use of mise-en-scene and location to create motive and look entertaining.
One thing to improve was that they could have used more camera movements and more locations.
Firstly, the music video was too long, so it dragged. It was also fairly boring due to the lack of shots. One thing I liked about it was the rapid editing at the start.
This music video lack of varied location- they could've used more shots to make it look dynamic. Some positive outcomes were that the editing was more dimensional and interesting at the beginning, however some transitions were a little cheesy.
I put this in last place because they used the same shots over and over. There was no motive in the story and I got bored very quickly. This taught me that you shouldn't use the same location more than two or three times, otherwise it looks repetitive, and therefore is boring for the viewer to watch.
